What leathers should I buy for my soon to be GSXR 750?
I want to buy a decent set of leathers, gloves and boots for two main reasons.
a.) I don’t want to look like a spoon.
and b.) I don’t want my skin to melt in the event of a crash.
What looks good? What’s the safest? What about body armour? Come on bikers… Let me know.
IMHO any brand is as good as the next. Vanson, Icon, Joe Rocket…just some names I can think of.
I think it’s better to have armor than not, although I don’t like it if it’s too bulky.
I’ve started seeing armor being sold separately, it seems to be sold as a vest that you’d put on separately. I assume it’s in case you buy something that doesn’t have it but you want it.
They probably make leathers specifically for each type of bike, but whatever. While I wouldn’t want to wear a Lime Green jacket on a red bike, I don’t think it’s a big deal if you’re not matchy matchy.
I think they do make leathers designed for your type of bike, e.g., cruiser, Sport Bike or whatever. The sportbike jackets would probably have a longer back to keep you covered as you lean forward. And you wouldn’t want your typical “Easy Rider” jacket on a sportbike, because you don’t want wind going down your front.
